Bean Cabbage & Ham Soup

1 onion, quartered & sliced

2 celery stalks, sliced

1 Tbsp bacon grease

1 lb cabbage, quartered & sliced

1/2 lb thick-sliced ham, cubed

1 can northern beans, drained & rinsed

1/8 cup pumpkin seeds

1/8 cup raisins

1 quart chicken broth

1/2 tsp dry mustard

3 shakes of nutmeg

ground black pepper


saute onions & celery in bacon grease for 5 minutes

add everything else

bring to a boil, lower to a simmer

cook until cabbage is tender
