Roasting Chestnuts

choose chestnuts that give a little when you press the mounded side


cut an X into the mounded side of each nut

place on baking pan


set baking pan in oven

set a bowl of hot water on the shelf underneath

set a timer for 10 min for small chestnuts, 15 for larger


if necessary peel off the inner skin, it’s bitter
